Bill Herbert is a seasoned business professional with over 30 years of experience spanning U.S. Government, industry, national security, and interagency operations. He has a distinguished track record in business development, operational program and portfolio management, research and development, and mentoring businesses across diverse sectors.
Bill’s expertise lies in navigating the complexities of Department of Defense (DoD) and government contracting, having held leadership roles such as Senior Director of Business Development, Senior Program Manager, Director of Operations, and Director of Programs.
His ability to create and maintain customer relationships, drive operational efficiency, and lead high-performing teams has made a lasting impact within the DoD, Intelligence, and Special Operations communities. Additionally, he possesses extensive experience in U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and U.S. Army Command and Control (C2) operational architecture. A decorated combat veteran, Bill served 24 years in Special Operations units, holding key positions including Special Forces Detachment Commander, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, Division Chief, Special Forces Battalion Commander, and Joint Interagency Task Force Lead Planner. His deep knowledge of DoD acquisitions and leadership in high-stakes environments have shaped his ability to execute strategic initiatives with precision.
Beyond his operational expertise, Bill is an accomplished strategic growth advisor. During his tenure with one of the largest defense contractors, Bill spearheaded long-range business development efforts for US Special Operations Command, Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, and Joint Special Operations Command. He successfully managed portfolios exceeding $2 billion in strategic pipeline efforts, developed and supported two mentor-protégé programs, and facilitated a small business joint venture that resulted in a $200 million award. His leadership led to over $1.3 billion in awarded single-award IDIQ programs, solidifying his reputation as an industry innovator.
Bill holds a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and credentials including PMP certification, Harvard University Negotiators Training, and Shipley capture and proposal training. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Advisors for the Combat Divers Foundation.
